An Introduction to, and Appreciation of, Metallurgy for non-Metallurgists

About the Course:

This one day course is an introduction to the ‘Black art’ of metallurgy.

Starting with the elements, you will gain a greater understanding of different grades of steel, their mechanical properties and their applications in industry.

It clarifies some of the science and dispel some of the old wives’ tales surrounding carbon steels, low alloy steels, stainless steels, nickel alloys and others. Is stainless steel “better” than carbon steel? Is nickel alloy the best?

It is aimed at anyone who uses, selects or specifies metals for use virtually anywhere. Planning / site engineers, project managers, in fact any engineer who is involved with material selection for site equipment or deals with site failures, would benefit from a greater understanding of metallurgy.

All our courses are now accredited by The Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining (IOM3).
